AGENCY OPENS DEBATE ON SALISBURY FLOOD WARNING
PEOPLE living near the Rivers Avon and Nadder have the
chance tonight to discuss the Environment Agency's flood warning
service in their area.
A public meeting is being held in
Salisbury as part of a nationwide campaign to improve communication
between the Agency and the communities at risk from flooding.
Local people are being encouraged to learn about the nature
of flood risk in their area and offer their views on the Agency's
service.
As well as learning and commenting on how the
Agency warns of flooding one of the key points to be discussed is
the need to establish a flood warden scheme in Salisbury.
The meeting is being held at 7pm on Thursday 13 July in the
Meeting Room, City Hall, Malthouse Lane, Salisbury.
"A
dialogue with the people who live alongside these rivers is vital
for us to ensure we give the best possible flood warning service,"
said Robin Chase for the Environment Agency. Information is
available from the Environment Agency's Floodline number on 0845 988
1188. - Ends -
